A closing gift that stays in the wallet: a credit-card-size card in black anodized aluminum. The front is a home safety check. Every month, test smoke and CO alarms. Every year, fresh batteries and a check of expiry dates. Every ten years, replace smoke alarms. Replace CO alarms per the maker, since the date is on the unit. When an alarm sounds, get everyone outside, then call 911. And practise two ways out. Your name and brokerage run along the bottom.
The back is a keys-day checklist with eight boxes: final walk-through, utilities set up, meter reading, insurance in place, phone and internet, mail and address, appliances work, and check for leaks. The boxes are engraved empty. A white or silver paint pen marks them; a standard black marker will not show on black aluminum.
This card is a reminder, not a safety inspection, and it does not replace your local fire service advice.
